Nibiru Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu offers 90-minute long Adult Gi and No-Gi BJJ classes multiple times a week.
These classes are a mix of the following:
Warm-ups: Brief warm-ups to get your body moving
Instructional Time: Each month we focus on a specific topic. As the month goes on, we continue to dive deeper int various aspects of the focus topic and perform regular drills.
Live Sparring: Classes conclude with 30 minutes of live sparring (also called “rolling”). This allows students to apply their knowledge gained during instruction and get real, practical experience with a variety of training partners and body types.
Nibiru also offers other weekly opportunities to train such as Gi/No-Gi competition classes and regular Open Mats.
Adult Jiu-Jitsu
Adult Gi
Gi BJJ classes are a blend of traditional self-defense and modern sport Jiu-Jitsu. Key focus areas are:
Grips & Control through gi manipulation
Positional Offense & Defense
Guard passing
Sweeps & takedowns
Our gi classes are open to all belt levels from the first-timer to the advanced upper belt. The instructional period is tailored to the participants’ needs and live sparring rounds provide ample opportunity for gaining practical experience.
Adult No-Gi
No-Gi BJJ classes focus on:
Wresting & takedowns
Movement & guard passing
Joint manipulation attacks such as leglocks & armbars
Application of pressure & body manipulation
We teach under a variety of rule sets, including EBI overtime, IBJJF, ADCC, and sub-only. Just like our gi classes, the no-gi classes are open to all belt levels and provide a wide variety of opportunities to train with different partners.
Adult Competition Classes
Our BJJ competition classes are intense and focused 1-hour training sessions designed to prepare students for BJJ tournaments. These classes emphasize refining techniques that are commonly used in competition such as guard passing, submissions, and positional control, all while adhering to the specific rules and grips associated with each competition. Key focuses of competition classes are:
Technique Refinement: Sharpen the tools that competitors will need to employ during competition
Situational Drilling: Build pattern recognition for quick decision-making in high-pressure situations
High Intensity Live Sparring: Practical application of cumulative knowledge
Strength and Conditioning: Condition the body for the intensity of a competition environment
These classes focus on strategy, mental preparation, and conditioning to ensure that competitors are well-rounded and ready to perform at their best in a competitive environment.
Open Mat
Open mat is non-instruction class time that can be used for drilling or sparring. Members of other gyms are welcome with no mat fee. We do have a TV available if you want to watch an instructional and drill.
